Getting started
- Install Mint Loyalty from the Shopify App Store. The app home shows a four-step checklist.
- Review your program on the Program page: how many points customers earn per amount spent, the signup bonus, who joins, and the rewards (a fixed amount or a percentage off, and how many points each costs). Save.
- Turn on the launcher: click Open theme editor on the app home, make sure Mint Loyalty launcher is on under App embeds, and click Save. (Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds.)
- Optional: your store has a rewards page at
/apps/mint-loyalty; add it to your navigation menu. You can also add the Rewards block to any page with the Add Rewards block button. - Launch the program from the app home. Until then nothing is shown to shoppers and no points are given.
How points work
- Points are given when an order is paid, on the product subtotal after discounts. Shipping, taxes added at checkout, tips and gift cards don't earn. Orders paid before you launched, or while the program was paused, don't earn.
- Refunds take points back in proportion to the refunded products. A full refund takes back everything the order earned. If the member already spent those points, their balance can go below zero until they earn again.
- Redeeming creates a single-use discount code that only works for that customer while signed in. Codes apply to the whole order and combine with shipping discounts. You can cancel an unused code from the member's page to give the points back.
- Balances and VIP tiers are also saved on each Shopify customer (app metafields), shown as Loyalty points and Loyalty VIP tier on the customer page.
Common questions
The launcher doesn't appear. Check that the program is launched and the Mint Loyalty launcher app embed is on in your live theme. It never shows on the password page.
A customer didn't get points. Points arrive when Shopify marks the order paid. Check the program was live at the time, the customer is a member (Members page), and, on the Free plan, that the 200-member limit wasn't reached. You can add points by hand with a reason on the member's page.
A customer can't use their code. They need to be signed in with the same customer account that redeemed it, and the order must meet any minimum you set.
I changed the app proxy URL. The launcher talks to /apps/mint-loyalty. If you changed that path under Apps → Mint Loyalty → App proxy, change it back.
Referrals (Pro)
Each member gets a personal link. A friend who opens it gets their own single-use code for their first order (valid 30 days). When that order is paid, the member earns the points you set. Members aren't rewarded for their own orders, for friends who had ordered before, or twice for the same friend, and the reward is taken back if the friend's order is refunded in full.
Billing
Free includes up to 200 members with points, rewards, the launcher and admin tools. Pro is billed through Shopify at $9.99/month after a 7-day free trial and adds unlimited members, VIP tiers, referrals, points expiry and custom colours. Cancel anytime from the app's Plans page or by uninstalling.
Privacy
